Reel Muslim is a non-profit Islamic short-video app. This page says plainly what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.

What we collect

• Account details — when you create an account: your email address, a display name, and your password (stored only as a secure hash, never as text). If you sign in with Google instead, we receive your email address, your name and your Google account's ID number, and we store no password at all. We never receive your Google password, and we ask Google for nothing else — no contacts, no calendar, no files.
• Your activity — when you are signed in: the reels you watch and for how long, your reactions, saves, shares, and the channels you follow. This is what powers your personalised feed and the public view counts.
• Ad views — when an advertisement is shown, we count that it was seen. This is how ad revenue for charity is calculated.
• Technical basics — standard server logs (such as IP address and device type) needed to deliver the service and keep it safe.
• A notification token — if you allow notifications, your device is given an anonymous token by Apple or Google so we can send you an alert when a channel you follow publishes something. It identifies the installed app, not you, and we delete it when you sign out or uninstall.
• Crash reports — when the app fails, it sends us the error and where in the app it happened, along with your account's internal ID number so we can tell how many people a fault is affecting. No email address, no name, and no content of what you were watching.

You can browse without an account. Signed out, we keep no personal activity history about you.

What we will never do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. To anyone. Ever.
• We embed no third-party advertising networks and no advertising trackers — every ad is served from our own reviewed catalogue.
• We do not profile you beyond what the feed inside the app needs.

How we use it

To run the app: personalising your Explore feed, counting views and reactions, reviewing content, preventing abuse, and accounting honestly for the charity money — which you can inspect on the Impact page.

Who processes data for us

Like every app, we rely on infrastructure providers: video streaming and storage, file storage and delivery, and email delivery for things like password resets. They process data only to provide those services to us, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.

We also use two services from Google: Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers notifications to your device, and Firebase Crashlytics, which collects the crash reports described above. Neither is used for advertising, and we do not use Google Analytics or any advertising SDK. If you sign in with Google, Google also knows you have signed in here — as it would for any site or app you use that account on.

Retention and deletion

Detailed viewing signals are folded into aggregate statistics and the raw records are deleted on a rolling basis. Your account data stays until you delete your account — which you can do inside the app, or by writing to us. Deleting your account removes your personal data from the service. Children

Reel Muslim's content is curated to be safe for every age. Browsing requires no account. Creating an account requires accurate information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access to production data is restricted.
